At Bedrock Coffee Roasters, our mission has always been to bring you exceptional coffee—roasted with care, sourced with integrity, and rooted in relationships with producers who share our values. To continue doing that well, we’re updating our roasted coffee prices.
This decision wasn’t made lightly. Over the past year, the cost of green coffee—the raw beans we roast—has more than doubled. While we’ve done everything we can to absorb those increases, it’s no longer sustainable under our current pricing model. We want to explain why this is happening, and why this change is necessary for the future of Bedrock.
What’s Driving Coffee Prices Up?
1. Coffee Futures & Global Commodities
Coffee is traded on the global market much like oil or grain. Futures contracts (like the ICE “C-price” for arabica) serve as a benchmark for pricing. In 2025, those futures have surged—exceeding $4.40/lb—more than twice what they were just a year ago. This spike reflects tight global supply, increased risk, and rising demand.
2. Climate and Crop Pressures
Major coffee-producing regions, including Brazil and Ethiopia, are facing serious climate stress. Droughts, heat waves, and unpredictable rainfall have damaged harvests and reduced yields. Fewer beans mean higher prices. Even if crops recover, the impact of climate volatility will be long-term.
3. Supply Chain Costs
Beyond the farm, rising freight rates, import tariffs, and currency fluctuations have driven up the final cost of green coffee. We work with importers who prioritize traceability and sustainability, which means we pay a premium—but we believe it’s worth it.
4. Specialty Standards Require More
Our coffees are not bulk commodities. We choose small, traceable lots with distinct flavor profiles, grown at elevation, often handpicked and naturally processed. This level of quality takes more time, labor, and care—especially in today’s market.
