Barista

Job Description

The Barista is one of the most important coffee specialists within the Bedrock Coffee team. Responsible for greeting, serving, and educating customers, the Barista skillfully crafts and serves coffee beverages in a timely and accurate manner, striving to ensure an exceptional and lasting coffee experience for the customer. They are a positive team player and drive forward Bedrock’s mission to craft the best possible coffee, serve our local community, and advance coffee’s legacy through education and awareness.

Responsibilities & Essential Job Functions

Service

  • Warmly greet and engage with customers as they enter the café
  • Provide customers with menu details and answering any questions
  • Take customer orders while paying close attention to any customized details such as temperature and substituted ingredients
  • Receive and process payments in a secure, safe, and orderly fashion
  • Communicate customer feedback to managers

Craft

  • Expertly craft various café beverages according to standard recipes using a variety of commercial café equipment and manual brewing methods
  • Serve prepared food, like cookies, pastries and muffins
  • Learn all available brew-craft methods and be able to explain them to customers
  • Experiment and recommend new drink menu options
  • Taste and provide valuable quality assurance feedback

Upkeep

  • Keep the café seating and retail clean and comfortable for customers
  • Maintain a high degree of cleanliness and organization within kitchen area, ensuring team members can operate safely and effectively
  • Comply with health, safety, and sanitation guidelines for all products
  • Check if brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs
  • Maintain stock of café consumable products such as cups, lids, syrups, and milk

Other duties as assigned may involve bagging, sealing, and various other coffee production assistance tasks to meet customer demand. Additionally, it may also be required to prepare and serve beverages for special events as well as assisting with new team member training (providing instruction, positive reinforcement, and coaching).


Hours, Compensation & Benefits

  • Part-Time (20-30 hours a week)
  • $12.00 - $15.00/hour starting wage depending on experience (+$1.00 after 90 days)

Cafe Assistant

Job Description

The Café Assistant is a crucial role within the Bedrock Coffee team, focused on customer service and café maintenance during our busiest times. This role ensures a smooth and comfortable café experience for our customers, assisting with transactions, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our café and retail spaces. As a supportive member of our team, the Café Assistant helps uphold Bedrock’s commitment to quality service and community connection.

  • Restock café consumable products such as cups, lids, and other supplies


Other duties as assigned may include assisting with bagging, sealing, and other retail tasks as needed to meet customer demand. This role will not involve crafting beverages or closing/opening the café, but flexibility and a willingness to assist team members is highly valued.
